1 How do I start?
Reading the booklets that come with the tinctures will provide the foundational information on how to begin.
If you have any questions or would like to find more resources, please contact us.
2 How much should I have?
Serving sizes will vary depending on the situation. Having one large serving will not have the same effect as multiple smaller ones spread throughout the day.
It is recommended to start with smaller servings for a few days so that ones body can gently start to grow accustomed to the plants first. Do not exceed daily maximum listed in each plant booklet.
For example, just a few drops of dandelion and burdock tincture before food stimulates the formation and secretion of several digestive enzymes, stimulating digestion. This is a small serving, for an immediate action.
Yet, the same tincture also has liver and kidney supporting actions, which can contribute towards cleaning the blood, and in turn skin and other things that come with blood being cleaned. This is a longer term process in which consistent, larger servings would be needed.
3 Can I have this every day?
Some plants are recommended to have daily for the depth of their potential to work, while there are others that are only to be had for a short period of time. This depends on each plants effect on the body and the situation at hand.
It is always important to discern what reason one is working with the plant, and inform ourselves on whether it is safe to work with over long periods of time or not. Some plants and extracts can be dangerous to ingest for more than a few days or weeks.
Even with plants that are to be had daily, it is recommended to take a break (of a week or two) after around a month and a half of continued daily ingestion.
Every 1.5 months take a 1-2 week break. Continue again.
If there is ever a doubt, ask the person who recommended it or the one who sold it.
4 How long until I will start to feel something?
Each person is different and even the same person at a different time can experience the same thing, differently. It all depends on the situation.
In an acute (immediate) condition, one would look for immediate effects.
This could be for example, ease from sinus inflammation.
In such a situation one would have more frequent, smaller servings over the short term.
Chronic (long term or recurring) conditions would need to be worked with over a longer term.
For example recurring asthma.
Here, one could have less frequent, larger servings, over a longer period of time.
A general rule of thumb is every 1.5 months take a 1-2 week break before starting again.
5 Why do they all contain alcohol?
Our tinctures are all currently made with organic cane alcohol and water, since as a solvent, it is most effective in extracting a large range of the plants constituents. Alcohol also provides the longest shelf life compared to water, vinegar or glycerin.
In the future we will have some extracts with glycerin and vinegar.
Nothing contained on this page is meant to be medicinal advice. This website contains information and resources curated and collected from various sources around the world in the name of sharing as educational seeds for personal research and continued exploration.
We are not doctors nor herbalists, and do not claim to be.
We have found there to be countless wonderful resources throughout printed text and the internet that are often overlooked or not easy to find. The power is in our hands to educate ourselves and each other by holding space for information and knowledge in whatever ways we can.
8 Why were these particular plants chosen ?
Other than the plants chosen being tonic in nature and generally known to be safe, (caution and research always advised) we are currently only sharing plants with whom we have had a longer term, personal experience with.
It is recommended to work with herbs from the environment one is living in, making sure they are safe to ingest and are growing in a clean place, but we don't always have the access, traditional / scientific knowledge to refer to and learn from.
mehhhhh
8 Why are the bottles packaged this way?
In addition to the amber glass bottles which protect their contents from a wide range of light frequencies, the tinctures are packaged in raw untreated paper sleeves as another layer of protection.
In the past we have used stickers as labels, and on them we have indicated the importance of storing tinctures in a cool, dark place, but more often than not, we would find people forgetting to and forgetting why to. We felt that it would be useful and simpler to add another layer of protection instead of trying to constantly remind people.
Another reason we have stopped using stickers is to live in accordance to our values, by using as little plastic as possible and facilitate the reuse of the materials after the tincture is finished.
We offer the option to refill your bottle, and for those who would like to keep their bottles, we reduced the need to go through a long process of soaking, removing and throwing away plastic stickers and its residue.
We are looking into natural inks so that in the future the covers can be composted rather than be thrown out.
but so that they dont get thrown out now ...once finished, look inside of the protective cover
